GALLOWAY THE SECOND DIAMOND

BY ANTHONY L. DILKA                The Galloway breed is the only Breed that has not been created from the mixing of several other breeds , as many of the other beef breeds of Today. It is a breed that dates back to the 1600's, a very hearty breed, that has become today a Breed of serious consideration. In our times of wanting to find a healthier, and safer way of feeding our families we are needing a way of getting away from the fear of poisons in our food. Since the early 1900's when our Scienctists came up with the way of Implanting our Cattle with steriods to get them to fatten out faster, our children and us have paid for it. We are getting sick more often and we have our children going through puberty sooner. When I went through school , we never had girls who met puberty or got breasts before there senior year. Today our children are getting their periods at eleven and breasts of an adult at 14 years of age. Did you ever wonder why? Well it has been all those steriods we have Implanted in our cattle to get that almighty dollar. So now what do we do , keep on our same track eating the beefg full of these poisons or is there a more safer way to feed our families? Well in my other Hub Site I told you of a breed of cattle that you dont have to worry about putting that poison into to get to fattening faster.

Well this breed is the Second Diamond in the Rough , and is a breed that enhances the Lowline Angus's already leaner , healthier, and Natural Grass Fed Finishing . This breed is just as feed efficient as the Lowline , in both Daily Gain, and Calving ease that many Breeders worry about in todays Beef Industry. It Breeds very vigoriously , and calves babies that are hardy and get right up and get to milk faster. The breed I speak of, is the breed Vikings carried with them to their settlements, Because they were animals that adapt to different climaxes and still produce the needed food for their families.

Galloways are the breed of Vikings, the oldest breed that has remained pure geneticly for over 400 years. It is a very Docile Breed as is the Lowline Angus, and together they produce a cross breed that can't be be beaten in todays Beef Industry. Consumors in todays trying times , are seriously searching for a safer more economic way of feeding there families. They are looking at Beef without the poisons , pesticides, and virises that cattle of today are trickiling down to our families through their meat product we buy in stores of today.

We never heard of Mad Cow Disease, or any of the meat diseases of today , 30 years ago, and we were healthy and hardly ever sick. Can we say that today? No! This breed is raised Natural Grass Fed and in tests done by U.S.D.A., and many very good Colleges, they are finding that this breed is more feed efficient, and is beating the standard Breeds in GoldStar Tenderness tests. They have also found that more of the Carcuss Cuts are more valued then their Standard cousins.

In Today's Economy of Cattle Production, feed efficiency is what producers are truely needing to make Profits pay off so they can produce again next year. To do this they need to make money with the acreage they have , and without using the high priced feed they are feeding. By breeding the Galloway , Lowline Angus, or a Cross of both they will not only increase production but will be more feed efficient. Galloways eat half as much feed as Standard breeds and their feed conversion is twice that of their bigger counter parts. This means you are able to produce more of these animals per acre as do the standard breeds. Thus increasing profitability and keeping production well above what is needed to pay bills and produce next year.
